Powell's Windsor

Our Story

After managing the Powell's Sweet Shoppe in Windsor for 18 months, it was a no-brainer for Co-owner Paul Pearce and myself when the opportunity came up to buy it from founder Michael Powell and turn it into our own franchise.  I had been managing retail operations for others for 25 plus years and never thought I wanted the responsibility of ownership.

One day, Michael approached me and asked if I would be interested in buying the store. Not believing the possibility was actually there, I laughingly responded 'No Thanks'. Twenty four hours later, I found myself in a quick panic wondering if he had been serious. I called him the next day and lo and behold - months later we are the proud owners of the flagship Powell's Sweet Shoppe here in Windsor on the town green.

A couple of weeks after we closed the deal our resolve was cemented when our 3 year old granddaughter visited our store for the first time.  She ran through the shop gleefully filling her basket to the brim with whatever she could grab.  We all know it's our job as grandparents to spoil them rotten and let our kids worry about the consequences:)  However, I believe our daughter-in-law enjoyed the store as much if not more!

Being a franchisee for Powell's is truly an honor for us.  Michael Powell created a model for an old fashioned candy store that we are proud to continue.  Nobody is ever in a bad mood at Powell's.  At least not after they've filled that craving!  We're thrilled to be members of the Powell's family and look forward to years of being a part of this great family oriented community of Windsor.
