Powell's Petaluma

Our Story

We are family owned and operated (literally); the whole family works at the store.  Owner, Will originally grew up on the east side of Petaluma, moving with his family to Santa Rosa in the 4th grade.  He loved the town back then and wanted to come back to Petaluma and start a business.  That is why they chose Petaluma.  That, and the fact that Monika already had lived there for over 12 years.  They watched Theatre Square grow, from soil to the great destination it is today. It was a lot of hard work to make it happen, but well worth the effort!

Their boys work in the store. Gabe, who attends McNear Elementary, helps by bagging up the goodies on weekends and Dylan, who is a regular employee, knows his candy well.  Will and Monika enjoy working in the store and meeting so many families and interesting people; not only of Petaluma but the surrounding areas as well.  "We wanted a business that would be a fun and exciting part of the community."

They first saw the original store in Windsor and instantly loved it; loved how it made them feel and they wanted to bring that same atmosphere to their store and to Petaluma.  Many years ago there was a candy store in the Old Petaluma Mill. "We wanted to create something like that for the new generation of kids so they would know what it would be like to have an old fashion candy store in their town -- A way to make memories continue on."

It is obvious that people of all ages love our store, whether you love candy, Gelato, drinking chocolate, root beer floats or anything sweet; want to share memories with friends or family - then you have picked the right shoppe.
